Antique Questions - A
I have a soup bowl made by the Atlas Globe China Company with the Nazi emblem on it, could you please give me some info on that particular pattern, was it made for officers, etc. I would love to know the plates history.
Check your phone book to see if any antique dealers are advertised as professional appraisers. They will charge a fee for their consultation. You can also go online and send photos and details of the item for an appraisal.
Here are three sites which were recently mentioned in Reader's Digest:
The Atlas China Company of Cambridge, Ohio operated from 1922 - 1927. In 1927, the Atlas China Company was joined with the Globe Pottery Company of Cambridge.
This company, the Atlas-Globe China Company, lasted from 1927 - 1934, when Universal Potteries, Inc. was organized in Cambridge. Universal Potteries operated from 1934 - 1960.
The Nazi symbol goes clockwise but an earlier version of that symbol went counter-clockwise and was a good luck sign. Double check your bowl to make sure the symbol is Nazi.
Atlas-Globe produced from 1927-1934 in Cambridge. It is possible that they made dinnerware for the American Nazi party although I couldn't find any information to document this. The only similar item I found in my reference books was a 9" plate with the Luftwaffe symbol that listed for $20.
These dealers listed below specialize in Nazi items. You could check with them for additional information. A photo would be helpful.
