I have a hand held planter.  Can you tell me about it?

Back in the days when farmers planted horse corn rows 34" apart and plants 21" to 18" apart, planters would miss putting seed down and that was called a "skip".  A hand held planter was used to plant the missing corn.  Your planter is pretty common.

I have a two pieces of Planet Jr. farm equipment.  I would like to know about the company that made them.  One is a seed planter and one is a row plow.  On the seed box is the name PLANET JR. #300.  It has 2 - 2inch wide wheels, one in front of the seed box and one  behind.  It has a seed disc with about 25 holes for all sizes of seeds.  It will open a furrow drop seed and cover seeds . The plow has written on the inside of the handles MADE IN THE USA-PLANET JR.  This plow has  twin plow shares and a wheel offset to the left of the plowshares.  These came from a farm in W.Va. and are in very good condition

Row Plow & Seed Planter

Planet Jr. garden tractors were made in Philadelphia, PA from the 1920s to 1950s. They were bought out by Gilson. Planet Jr. was a very good manufacturer and made a full line of tools. Your seed planter and row plow were probably made in the late 1920s. I have three Planet Jr. garden tractors in my collection.
