Antique Questions - H

I have an antique end plate from a horse drawn seed drill.  The name on the plate is "Fatterson and Brothers." Could you give me some infomation on this item?

I found a few pieces of wood in my attic and I am not sure what they are part of, maybe a mantle or an old table possibly mahogany or cherry.  The name John De Huff (written in script over Boston) is on the back of a curved piece. I couldn't seem to find anything about it so was wondering if you had ever heard of such a company.

Numerous companies manufactured farm equipment.  These firms sold locally and in the state.  When John Deere, Oliver, International, McCormick-Deering, etc. started selling nation-wide, these small producers failed. Fatterson and Brothers might be found in the recods of the local newspapers or in court house records.

John De Huff is not listed as an American Furniture Craftsman or as a Principal Early American Furniture Maker in my reference materials.  He may have been a minor or unrecognized craftsman who only worked in the Boston area.

You might be able to find more information locally.
