Car Questions - A

Do you have any information on the Aerocar?

I am looking for information on the Anderson Car

We were hoping to get an appraisal done but do not know anyone that can do this.

I know there has been at least one car in our automobile history that could also be driven on water as a boat.  Do you by chance know what these make/model/year these were.

Do you have any information on the Aerocar?

We received a brochure on The Flying Automobile which listed a web site that offers a slew of information about Aerocars and their colorful history:  www.AerocarForSale.com.  The site has a video of the Aerocar flying, photos, specs, design and patent information, publication links and feature articles.

There were two Anderson cars produced. The first one was manufactured by Anderson Carriage Mfg. Co. in Anderson, Indiana from 1907 - 1909. It was a 2-cylinder high-wheeler. The second Anderson  car was manufactured by The Anderson Motor Co. in Rock Hill, South Carolina from 1916 - 1926.  It was the most successful car made in the South and was sold nationally, according to The New Encyclopedia of Automobiles, 1885 to the Present.

Search at www.hemmings.com, Hemmings Motor News, for appraisers listed in the Raleigh area.  Another suggestion is to check their list of car clubs to find one there and contact them for assistance.
You can also find a list of AACA chapters, Antique Automobile Club of America, at www.aaca.org.  Members in your area may know someone locally who does appraisals.

The Amphicar was made in Germany from 1961-1968.  We don't have any information on body styles.  Try a Google search for more info.  Also interesting, was the Airphibian, made in Connecticut from 1950-1956.  It was fully licensed by the FAA.

Ford Model "T" production started in 1908.  Maroon, white, gray, etc. were originally offered.  Then from 1914 to 1925 no other colors were offered except black and a painted black radiator shell replaced the brass type in 1917.  Other independent manufacturers offered colors -- the most popular was black and white.
