FRIEHOFER'S GOOGLY EYE BRIDE & GROOM DOLLS
circa 1900s
These dolls came from a former employee of Freihofers Bakery in Philadelphia, PA. He said that he was the oldest employee in his store when the store closed many years ago. He was told that he could take something from the store as a remembrance so he went upstairs and retrieved these dolls. They had been forgotten and in storage for years. He said these dolls were used as wedding cake decorations in the roaring '20s on what must have been huge cakes at very lavish weddings.
Dolls are 14' tall, Painted eyes, Jointed arms, used as wedding cake decorations by Friehofer's Bakery, Philadelphia, PA, restored. Displayed in an original Friehofer's counter display case, 24 1/4" wide, 17" long, 27 1/2" tall, Tin with glass front and front portion of side, Metal shelves, Wood frame, No top sign.
